“I remember the day the sun went out, it halted all progression with all its beauty.”

It’s always been awhile.

So lately I haven’t really been watching much stuff, really I have more or less just been getting back into a deep love with music.

I recently went to Warped Tour in SLC, where I saw a few of my inspiring artists play such as The Dillinger Escape Plan, Dropkick Murphys, and Every Time I Die. I have been thinking a lot about the music scene that I wish I could be in and I wonder If I would be one of the artists who DEP calles a poser. By no means would I ever make music just to please the masses and to make money, but I call myself a metal head, but adore the blues and want to play the blues. I think a reason I cannot play metal exactly is that it takes a group of talented musicians and I feel I cannot compete with that kind of skill, not that blues is really any easier.

Random sorry.

Read this article. (thank you Kevin Lopez for this)

Give me something to break. Seriously.

It really makes you think upon the music scene.

Also at Warped I met up with a old friend, goodness she is fantastic :)

So I am looking to create a band, or anything really I just have a desire to make music and share the process with someone, honestly people lets get together and make some tunes!

Currently listening to:

Poison The Well

PTW has a been a massive influence upon me. Their music is very emotional and they play true to who they are. I cannot get enough of their style and the way he conveys emotion through his scream.

Also

The Dillinger Escape Plan

DEP is AMAZING, they are true originality in the music scene. They don’t care if other bands make money by doing the same rifts and 808 over their beats, these guys put 110% of love into your their music and 130% into their shows. If you ever have a chance to see DEP live, do it you will be mind blown.

“Rooms seemed hotter when he was in them. Rains fell straighter. Clocks slowed. Sounds were amplified.”

Hello my friends who read this.

First off, I got my first donation ever, a small amount but the persons behind it mean a lot to me and I am very grateful for it. Thank you, and thanks for even being in my life.

I ‘m addicted to westerns, Been playing a lot of Red Dead Redemption and now am watching a lot of western movies, I know this movie is R but my gosh I LOVE The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford I love this western, it’s really long and full of dialog, but the shots and conversation are magnificent. Watch it and just enjoy.

“naw, poetry don’t work on whores”

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford

So I went to MGMT with Sydney Lindquist and her sister Justine Lindquist  and I really enjoyed it, was insane being in the front and Sydney passed out bless her soul, but it didn’t slow her down at all.

I now live in Kanab, moved back home. Which menas a whole lot of nothing but this is gods country and I love the west, even though Boston is calling my name.

I really cannot wait to go on my mission, I really look forward to it I am ready to get out and work for 2 years for the lord.

I have watched FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa like crazy, I loved watching USA play hard for their country and I enjoyed it very much and I’m not sure who to go for now since Brazil and USA is out but im enjoying Germany and the dutch so far.

FIFA World Cup South Africa 2010

Going to Modest Mouse and Thrice in the next 2 weeks, I look forward to it. Meet me at Modest Mouse my friends its free at Pioneer Park on the 8th.

Toy Story 3 is one of the best movies ever btw.

Currently listening to:

Nick Cave & Warren Ellis – The Assassination of Jesse James

An amazing soundtrack, I love it so much. This shows how good the movie is too. The soundtrack is powerful and it really is good to listen to for fun, or to read to, or just relax to. I highly recommend it.

Listen to one of the best most moving songs here

“Good cop and bad cop have left for the day. I’m a different kind of cop.”

Got a friendly reminder from a missed friend to update my blog, looks like it’s time.

So I guess I should be updating on my life.

I picked my major, I want to go into audio production, so recording music etc. When I move home at the end of June I’ll set up a mini studio in my casa. With that I am self teaching myself at the moment how to use Logic Pro and soon other recording software.

I’m doing a summer block so 7 1/2 weeks of school, so far so good.

I still really wanna go on a road trip to Boston, help me out people!

Sweet D will move end of this month, sad, I’ll miss that girl like crazy.

I bought a Ukulele, its  a lot of fun, maybe I’ll record something soon and post it on my Tumblr. That Tumblr is really where I post random things I enjoy, check it.

Mothers day was yesterday, love my mum.

Red Sox beat the Yankees yesterday, awesome, screw the Yankees.

I haven’t written any new songs or really anything lately I need to get back on that. Currently waiting for a MIDI keyboard to come here so I can start getting some piano stuff down.

So lately I have been watching a lot of crime dramas, I just finished all of the seasons of The Wire, great show. I am almost done with The Shield, also great show.

The Shield

Really good crime drama’s won’t lie.

Also saw Iron Man 2, not to shabby more excited for the next installment of it though. Thor FTW.

So concerts coming up I am going to attend are…

MGMT on June 4th @ In The Venue

My MGMT ticket

Also going to go to Modest Mouse for FREE on July 8th @ Pioneer Park, apart of the Twilight Concert Series in SLC (no ties to the terrible books that share the title Twilight)

Really need a haircut bleh. hint.

Currently listening to:

The Gaslight Anthem

The Gaslight Anthem is now an official traveling/road trip and make memories band. I’m not sure if you will follow me on what I mean by that, but there music just has an awesome good tone set to it. They have a new album coming out soon which I am excited for. It’s just good music.

Listen to a favorite song of mine here.

The Gaslight Anthem - The '59 Sound

All done.

Tchau, Oh also I passed all my classes (besides English 1010 weird technicality where i instantly failed… will explain if asked on phone or in person if your curious.)

The title of this post is a quote from the TV show The Shield

Remember the donate button, when I get off my mission I better have some money in there for my road trip, and your welcome to tag along… unless you’re a psycho or don’t believe in personal hygiene

“Dude, if you get the nachos stuck together, that’s, one nacho.”

Here’s how the news drops.

I failed my English 1010 class with one miscommunication and now am trying to talk to the department of english board to get them to put a W on it. Insane.

This semester is getting closer to ending, which I am so glad for, but I hate the work at the end of the semester its annoying.

Really tired of donating Plasma havent been doing it lately, it’s not that it’s painful. It is just so freaking boring I can’t handle it anymore.

Decided to eat better… so involves only shopping at farmers markets, which everyone should do anyhow, sick of the crap I eat.

STILL want/need a banjo, ukulele, mandolin, and a MIDI keyboard…

I have started to record an EP or whatever you wanna call it. The title is Red Dirt.

Red Sox beat the Yankees on opening day, was awesome… won’t talk about the next to 2 games… Yankees suck.

Still want to do the road trip to Boston, need funds and people… who’s with me?

I saw Muse w/ Silversun Pickups on monday with my mother, It was awesome and I love to spend time with my mom :)

Been watching Castle. Who doesn’t love Nathan Fillion honestly?

Castle

Currently listening to:

Eels

To me there is nothing not to love about Eels. The man has a big awesome beard, plays a mean guitar, and howls in one of his best songs. Fresh Blood is honestly a fantastic song. The guitar and vocals in the song motivate me to do great things every time I give it a listen which is a lot. Check Eels out, you cannot go wrong here I promise.

“Congratulations, you failed a class so easy that people passing in the hallway get contact credit”

Its been awhile.

SO  It’s a little past 2:30 in the morning, I have been up for about 4 hours listening to new music. I feel like I am on a freaking amazing journey with just my brain in the middle as the ears take the wheel.

Gonna throw some band names out at you that you must check out.

The Black Keys
Mos Def w/ Talib Kweli
Dan Auerbach(from The Black Keys)
Kings of Connivence
Animal Collective
White Rabbits
Silversun Pickups
Rodrigo y Gabriela
Spoon
Beach House
Eels

Ok I am done with the list for now, seriously check these bands out!!! I am mind blown by it all.

I will be seeing Silversun Pickups open for Muse on Monday (April 5th) that will be amazing.

So I have a fantastic idea. Road Trip. I wanna make it happen this summer. I don’t know where but knowing me… its Boston. Nothing wrong with that!

Finally am learning to use Pro Logic 9, so i can start to record music.

Still can’t find a job its driving me nuts, I wanna buy instruments :(

Update on TV/Movies I have indulged in.

Community

Community is a fantastically funny TV show I highly recommend, also Modern Family.
Southland is an awesomely intense cop show in LA. The last episode of the 1st season i was literally shaking and talking to my laptop i was so into, got really intense.
Everyone needs to watch Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog

Donate money to me for my road trip and musicness! please?

Currently listening to:

Dan Auerbach

Ok let’s get one thing straight first. I love the blues. This man has the blues and he plays it how I like to hear it. Modern blues is one of my biggest inspirations and now he is added to the list (along with The Black Keys, his other work) His songs have rhythm and have a spirt to them, its very worth a listen.

“What has two thumbs and doesn’t give a crap?”

Its been awhile I know.

been watching a TON of Scrubs… we’re talking a lot.

Scrubs

I right now have a wet hat on my head wearing it with a draw string from my hoodie tied around it. The way the hat got wet is I wore it in the shower, im trying to get it to shrink… yeah not so fun.

Well I’m writing more songs and playing more guitar and enjoying it very much so. I have pictures buuuuut I don’t have a way to get them from the camera to my mac.

I have just started English 1010, liking it so far, but now I have homework…

Sorta wish I worked in a morgue, weird I know.

Really getting addicted to Plants vs Zombies its insane.

My cousin Thomas got his mission call to Texas Houston mission. Farewell is the 21st so that means I am heading down to Kanab and its over my spring break AND Vampire Weekend is on the 18th, it’s gonna be sweet. Probably going through St. George again to see a friend/go on a date, minus one i saw last time, she missing out fo sure.

Portugués é muito bom e um pouco difícil.

Currently listening to:

Modest Mouse

I really freaking uber LOVE Modest Mouse. They have music for every mood and really I believe speak to my soul. Some of my favorite songs are Doin’ the Cockroach, The Air, Never Ending Math Equation, Satin In a Coffin, 3rd Planet, Shit Luck, Dramamine, Perpetual Motion Machine. Okay I know that’s a lot, but it’s needed. Listen to them and enjoy.
